Resumo: Considering the importance of mathematics in the modern world, as well as low income and students' disinterest in this respect and discipline, ethnomathematics has emerged in recent years as a trend in mathematics education that proposes a more significant learning of mathematics. This study's main objective is to analyze the meanings attributed to ethnomathematics and its contributions to teacher education. As a theoretical basis, we sought to investigate books and articles dealing with the subject of Ethnomathematics, especially Ubiratan D'Ambrosio. It is a literature of exploratory and descriptive. The intention of this study is, in some way, contribute to both undergraduate students and with teachers working in the classroom, with a proposal for a reflection on the teaching and learning of mathematics

Este estudo tem como principal objetivo analisar os significados atribuídos à etnomatemática e suas contribuições para a formação e prática do professor de matemática. Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica de cunho exploratório e descritivo.
