This study has as objective make an analyze not only all the institutes and themes related to the kinds of defenses, but also the importance in keep the perfect progress of the Brazilian civil process. We will start showing the importance and utility of the different kinds of defense in the processual law, as all that it means. After, It will be made an explanation of all the defenses, your modalities, utilities and consequences in case they will not presented timely or in the way that is provided for by law. It will be approached the principal modalities of defense that we have in our legal order, which are the contestation and the counterclaim. After it will be made a quickly explanation about the preclusion and its mains effects. It is important to say, also, that inside each topic it will be taken the most important changes that the 2015 Code of Civil Procedure has brought. In this way, in view of the big relevance of these questions as in view of the introduced chances, there is no doubt about the importance of the theme “Defenses”
