Oralidade no ensino superior: as aulas de língua portuguesa como uma contribuição efetiva no desenvolvimento do discurso oral

The study "ORALITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION: the Portuguese classes as an effective contribution to the development of oral discourse" addresses the theme "teaching orality in the Portuguese classes, in order to contribute to the development of oral speech," that was born from the necessity of a reflection about the way oral Portuguese Language teaching is treated at the University, in courses considered in the area of humanities, as, and especially those who are not included in this label. Interest in this work emerged from the discussions that took place in the Research Group on Linguistic Education for teaching of Portuguese (GEPEDULIN) IP-PUC / SP and is part of the Research Line "Reading, Writing and Portuguese Language Teaching" of Portuguese Studies Program at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). The objective of this research, that comes from the assumptions of Linguistic Education (EL) is to analyze and reflect on the teaching orality in LP classes in higher education responding in which way orality is taught, when taught, its importance in various areas of knowledge as students become critical citizens and, moreover, to understand what are the benefits of education in upper-level courses. As for the methodological procedures, the analysis was done using descriptive and qualitative research, considering the interviews with three LP teachers from three undergraduate courses of a private educational institution in the city of São Paulo and the respective programs of each discipline. We’ve conclude that orality is not properly planned, nor taught in disciplines that deal with the Portuguese Language teaching from the analyzed courses. Even though words related to the subject are mentioned, both in programs and in the responses of teachers, the whole is inconsistent and does not meet the EL assumptions
