Resumo: The manifestation of facial expression occurs in the first moments after birth. It is in this way that our inner self connects with the outside world for the first time and it is through this manifestation that we react and claim our status. Through Portraiture, Art translates the complicity of thought between the observation and the making of a human facial expression. The complicity of seeing the other, transforming them from the perspective of different disciplines and congregating an image “capable of breaking the boundaries of time and place”, as Pliny wrote. This study is focused mainly on the mechanisms present in the construction of a portrait, from its constructive and formal approach, establishing the basis for facial expression representation without relating the final results to any time or space references. Observing analytically the action of three variations of the expressions of Happiness and Sadness, this work identifies the face changes in three distinct views used in Portraiture and strives to replicate the results in two expression variations taken from the initial model´s drawing session
