The aim of this thesis is to know better the architect Lina Bo Bardi through her writing. Action we deem necessary, in order to a more complete analisys and interpretation of her projects. We discuss three nuclear themes in her writing. In order to do so, we read them in oposition or dialog with three other architects. The study of the genesys of the modern movement in Brazil which makes us explore her oposition with Lucio Costa, about the historical heritage valid to Brazil. The plea of both architects to the historical documentation of Brazil an the way they both integrate tradition in their architecture. The confrontation with Bruno Zevi to explore Lina's critics to the brazilian architecture and the way she protects the brazilian Modern Movement from the international criticism. At last, A dialogue with Vilanova Artigas about the social role of the architect. The idea that architecture has to defend and mean something in society. Thus the architect needs to be in touch with social reality and committed to the human progress. At the end, we risk a brief analisys of two of Lina Bo Bardi projects - Museu de Arte de São Paulo e Centro Cultural Fábrica da Pompéia. The porpuse of this analisys is to test if the theoric premissis of the architect, explained in the first three chapters, exist in her arquitecture.
