Resumo: | Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) play a central role in our lives. Most of the processes that we execute in a daily basis, pass through these digital channels. The range of application of these technologies is endless. The logic underlying the use of ICT is imposing to the traditional ways of organizing society. As a result, the proposal of some institutions is weakening in the face of this overwhelming demand. In the case of the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), and in the particular case of the Professor, they both are being put in a second level in the processes of teaching and learning. The student now has an endless number of resources and, therefore, he has the power to decide who occupies the centre role in is learning universe. ICT can serve as an important tool for the processes of reinvention of the Institution and the Professor. In this context, e-learning platforms are assumed as a technology that can cut short and stimulate this journey. In the spring semester of 2010-11 academic year began at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon (FFUL) a project to implement an e-Learning platform. This article is a summary of this project, which was completed in the fall semester of 2012-13 academic year. In this project it was decided to adopt a systemic approach to e-learning. Therefor. E-learning was observed as a process composed of four elements: the Student, the Professor, the Institution and the Technology. This article gives special emphasis to the role of the institution in promoting a favourable organizational context to achieve the best results. |

This article gives special emphasis to the role of the institution in promoting a favourable organizational context to achieve the best results.
