Resumo: | The present study proposes to reflect on the importance of considering the complementarity between family and school environments, with the purpose of promoting Media Education in the childhood context. With the increased technological growth and the everyday contact of children with media content, it is essential to develop tools and instruments that are able to practically convey the results and theoretical knowledge of academic research to society. In fact, the Portuguese reality, when compared to other countries such as Canada or the United Kingdom, still lacks materials that promote Media Literacy. For that reason, our methodological procedure contemplated the collection and analysis of the information and initiatives promoted in Portugal, and the development of a theoretical model that identifies the essential skills for training autonomous, critical, and participative citizens, thus constituting a reading proposal on Media Literacy. Starting from this model and its various indicators, we elaborated a manual of good practices in Media Education: Addressing the media for you, for children from the 1st to the 3rd cycle. This instrument proposes various recreational activities, in a game-like format, encompassing 25 topics on Media Education, among which like cyberbullying, the world of news, the blogosphere and advertising. The main goal is to stimulate the development of critical skills about the media, both in school and family contexts, under a complementary relationship. |

The main goal is to stimulate the development of critical skills about the media, both in school and family contexts, under a complementary relationship.O presente artigo propõe refletir sobre a importância de atender à complementaridade entre os ambientes familiar e escolar, tendo em vista a promoção da Educação para os Media no contexto da infância.
