Scientific analysis on the opportunities and challenges of the electronic transformation in the automobile industry for Mercedes-Benz

Resumo: This paper examines global trends fundamentally disrupting the automotive industry and explores emerging opportunities within the transformation. Current literature focuses on elements causing the shift, however, limited examination is conducted on the extent to which automotive companies should find and embrace their role as technology or mobility providers in an increasingly digital and electric ecosystem. To fill the research gap, an exemplified qualitative analysis of Mercedes-Benz is undertaken to provide recommendations on sustaining and improving their business model. As such, strategic partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, investments in digital and electric initiatives ,and adaptations to changing customer needs are essential to endure in a new era.
