Central Problems of Art Education: Reflections on the Present Time and Challenges for the Future

Resumo: The main purpose of this paper is to identify the core problems of art education nowadays. With this intention, 25 experts in the field of arts education were interviewed to know their opinion about the key issues and challenges of arts education in the near future. In order to categorize the reflections collected, three relevant studies about future strategies for arts education were analyzed, looking for the key measures suggested therein and the main categories used. Finally, the essay ends with brief considerations about art education in the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Com esse intuito, entrevistaram-se 25 especialistas da área da educação artística para saber a sua opinião sobre os principais problemas e desafios a ultrapassar a curto e médio prazo. De modo a categorizar as reflexões recolhidas, analisaram-se três estudos relevantes realizados em pleno século XXI sobre estratégias de futuro para a educação artística, procurando as principais medidas aí sugeridas, bem como as principais categorias utilizadas.
