Gastrodiplomacia e a tradução dos menus chineses: o caso de Aveiro

Resumo: Gastro-diplomacy, a new strategy to promote soft power, places new demands on the national restaurant industry abroad, among which, menu translation is an integral part of this strategy and is increasingly valued by the scientific community. In the case of China, despite having its cuisine spread across the four corners of the earth, improving menu translation remains an urgent and important task. From the perspective of gastro-diplomacy and functionalism, two goals of translating Chinese menus are identified, to present real information and to transmit cultural values. Therefore, this paper analyzes the typical translation problems detected in the menus of Chi ese restaurants in the municipality of Aveiro.

No caso da China, apesar de ter a sua culinária espalhada pelos quatros cantos da Terra, mel- horar a tradução dos menus continua a ser uma tarefa urgente e importante.
