For a multimodal mapping of the concept of translanguaging based on open data

Due to increasing mobility and the promotion of internationalization, classrooms are becoming more and more multilingual and multicultural learning spaces. In this context, translanguaging, an interdisciplinary concept which recognizes and embraces the bi/multilingualism of learners, contributes to the development of competences in the mother tongue and the target language(s) through the strategic activation of the entire linguistic repertoire. Translanguaging is an extremely productive pedagogical practice as it can be applied in language classes but also in other classes that rely on a foreign language for access to knowledge. In order to map the network of authors, related concepts, fields of research, and definitions that make up the universe of translanguaging, we propose a methodology for the promotion of information literacy that links social listening to the research and use of academic information through easy-to-use digital tools. With this methodology, it is intended that teachers acquire, refresh and/or deepen, in an autonomous and creative way, their knowledge about innovative approaches and strategies for language teaching, in the framework of lifelong learning.
