In order to understand how intrinsic must be the relationship between the building and the environment we firstly have to know the features of the context that we will confront and explore. Sao Tome and Principe has the features of a tropical island located over the Equator, with specific conditions, means, techniques and limited resources.The contrast to the European's culture manifests immediately in the differents forms of territory's occupation. The urbanism of Sao Tome is based on a density's population that will be deploying to the coast, along the beaches and the bays, and concentrated centers set inside the island, practically self-sufficient andprotected by dense vegetation - the roças.The Sao Tome's architecture responds to the culture, to the history and to the conditions which nature provides to the archipelago. It's in the depth study of the architecture's features of Sao Tome that we can understand the context in which it occurs. The popular house, the colonial house and the roças are elements that respond to their geographical, cultural and social environment and present a set of features that are the best solutions to the problems that we confront when building in Sao Tome. Today, although much part of the heritage is in ruins or vandalized, we find good examples of techniques and methods, largely based on empirical knowledge, which are a source of inspiration for future projects.Completed this study based on the features of Sao Tome architecture, it is presents an architectural proposal that intends to be an example of a building that, by its characteristics, relates itself with the surrounding, cultural, economic and geographical area where it is located. By doing this, the building proposed is evidenced by local materials and construction techniques that considered not only the integration of the building into the environment but also the possibilities of population to preserve it.
