Moisi (2015) mentions that political scientists were apprehensive of introducing an element of subjectiveness to these analysis for fear that it would compromise the final, rational outcome. The fact is, however, that there is perhaps no other field were emotions are more imbued than International Politics — one needs to look no further than phenomena such as War and Terrorism. At the very ethos of each there is an underlying emotion — be it fear or terror — that carves the path for political leaders to walk on and make their decisions. This work strives to understand what is the place of emotions within the International Politics field, more especially when it comes to the "securitization” process, through which issues become an international security issue and threat, requiring extraordinary measures. We concentrate on two specific emotions — fear and humiliation — and work on shed light on how these emotions have influenced international relations, being somewhat indispensable when it comes to dealing with all international phenomena. As a case-study, we analyze the Charlie Hebdo attacks of 2015, tracing back to the genesis of the relation between France and the Muslim world, in order to show how, through a new framework expliciting the cycle of emotions in the process of securitization, how elements of fear and humiliation have been used during the said process, that took place right after the attacks and, thus, influenced the measures taken to tackle the perceived threat.As emoções têm sido historicamente relegadas à margem da análise da Política Internacional – Moisi (2015) menciona que os cientistas políticos estavam receosos de introduzir um elemento de subjetividade nessas análises por medo de comprometer o resultado final, visto como racional. O fato, porém, é que talvez não haja outro campo onde as emoções estejam mais impregnadas do que a Política Internacional — não é preciso olhar além de fenômenos como Guerra e Terrorismo. No próprio ethos de cada um há uma emoção subjacente que abre o caminho para os líderes políticos trilharem e tomarem suas decisões. Este trabalho busca compreender qual é o lugar das emoções no campo da Política Internacional, mais especialmente quando se trata do processo de Securitização, por meio do qual questões domésticas se tornam questões internacionais, exigindo medidas extraordinárias. Concentramo-nos em duas emoções específicas — medo e humilhação — e trabalhamos para esclarecer como essas emoções sempre estiveram presentes na Política Internacional, sendo um tanto indispensáveis quando se trata de lidar com todos os fenômenos internacionais.
