Resumo: This article presents, in general terms, determining factors in offering practical classes as a teaching resource in professional-vocational education. Taking into account the scope and domain of the topic, this research analyses the faculty’s stance in relation to the perceived importance and the development of practical activities in the process of qualifying students within the technical-vocational course on Organization of Events at the Brasilia Campus of The Brazilian Federal Institute (IFB). By means of a descriptive and qualitative research method, this article identifies the relation among practice, theory and curriculum organization and it investigates the extent to which theories and the practices belong to the same domain; moreover, it presents strategies that aim at curriculum integration. Finally, this article presents some considerations as well as the faculty’s perception on practical activities in the Organization of Events course and how it affects in-school factors, the success and the motivation of students in the aforementioned course.

Tendo em vista a abrangência e dimensão do tema, esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a posição do corpo docente em relação ao desenvolvimento e percepção da importância das atividades práticas no processo de formação do aluno do curso técnico subsequente em eventos do Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia de Brasília, Campus Brasília. Identifica a relação entre a prática, a teoria e a organização curricular do curso. Investiga até que ponto as teorias e as práticas pertencem a mesma dimensão, e apresenta estratégias que objetivam a integração. Utiliza como método a pesquisa qualitativa e descritiva.
