The option for nursing as a vocational qualification

Resumo: Choosing a profession is one of the most important decisions in students' lives. At this moment, it is essential to analyze some questions that can guide the option to be followed, considering the scenario in which the individual is inserted. The objective was to analyze the factors that motivated the choice for the Nursing course as a higher education training in a public Higher Education Institution. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive, exploratory, and qualitative study. A questionnaire with open and closed questions and a semi-structured interview script was used as data collection instruments that were applied to students in the 1st period of the nursing course. With the participation of 37 new students, there was a predominance of females and age variation between 17 and 29 years. Information related to demographic and academic data was also collected. Among the reasons that led them to choose the Nursing course, answers emerged as: ease of access to the course, care as a professional focus, family issues and identification with the profession. It is suggested to implement educational campaigns about the professions in schools, aiming to give visibility to the profession of Nurse during the choice process.

En este momento, es esencial analizar algunas preguntas que sirven de guía para la opción a seguir, considerando el escenario en el que se inserta el individuo. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar los factores que motivaron la elección del curso de Enfermería como capacitación en educación superior en una institución pública de educación superior. Este es un estudio transversal, descriptivo, exploratorio y cualitativo. Se utilizó un cuestionario con preguntas abiertas y cerradas y un guión de entrevista semiestructurado como instrumentos de recopilación de datos que se aplicaron a los estudiantes en el primer período del curso de enfermería. Con la participación de 37 nuevos estudiantes, hubo un predominio de las mujeres y la variación de edad entre 17 y 29 años. También se recopiló información relacionada con datos demográficos y académicos. Entre las razones que los llevaron a elegir el curso de Enfermería, surgieron respuestas como: facilidad de acceso al curso, atención como enfoque profesional, problemas familiares e identificación con la profesión. Se sugiere implementar campañas educativas sobre profesiones en las escuelas, con el objetivo de dar visibilidad a la profesión de Enfermera durante el proceso de elección.A escolha de uma profissão é uma das decisões mais importantes na vida dos estudantes. Neste momento, é imprescindível analisar alguns quesitos que sirvam de norteamento acerca da opção a qual se queira seguir, considerando o cenário no qual o indivíduo está inserido. Objetivou-se analisar os fatores que motivaram a escolha pelo curso de Enfermagem como formação no ensino superior numa Instituição de Ensino Superior pública. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo, exploratório e de natureza qualiquantitativa. Utilizou-se um questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas e um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturado como instrumentos de coleta de dados que foram aplicados aos discentes do 1º período do curso de enfermagem. Com a participação de 37 alunos ingressantes, verificou-se a predominância do sexo feminino e variação de idade entre 17 e 29 anos. Levantou-se, também, informações relacionadas aos dados demográficos e dados acadêmicos. Entre os motivos que os levaram a fazer opção pelo curso de Enfermagem, emergiram respostas como: facilidade de acesso ao curso, o cuidado como foco profissional, questões familiares e identificação com a profissão.
