Introduction: The organizations, the period of financial crisis and the stigma about the public administration workers are the reasons for this research work. Combining forces of positive psychology and organizational psychology in a contribution to strengthen the human virtues, that protects intra and interpersonal functioning, is a contribution to the well-being of the workers, and to the success of the organizations, and is simultaneously a concern of scientific community. Objectives: Study the associations between the psychological construct, self-compassion, and the organizational constructs, organizational commitment and organizational virtuosity; analyse their differences for each construct depending on gender, age, period of work in the organization, kind of employment bond and professional group. Methodology: The sample is composed by 130 workers from local administration, 78 men and 52 women, aged between 19 and 63 years old (M=44,22; SD=8,67). The participants filled the protocol from the project ?Organizar Positivamente? of Instituto Superior Miguel Torga, constituted by the Personal Data Sheet, the SELFCS (Self-Compassion Scale), the QCO (Organizational Commitment Questionnaire), the QVO (Organizational Virtuosity Questionnaire) and the DASS-21 (Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale). Results: A positive association between the organizational commitment and organizational virtuosity was found. There has no association between self-compassion and organizational commitment. The optimism and integrity of organizational virtuosity dimensions have a positive correlation with the self-criticism dimension and with the global scale of self-compassion. The elements of the sample with less education, belonging to a professional group less qualified or with an unfavourable employment bond perceive the organization as less virtuous and also, a less commitment is verified. Discussion: To promote positive actions inside the organizations is to encourage positive emotional states in individuals. To encourage individual compassionate capacity by self-compassion and mindfulness is to humanize the individuals and organizations. These workers, with their leaders, can promote affective and normatively committed workforces, showing positive perceptions about organizational virtues.
