In Football, observation and match analysis are core areas in the coach daily basis. Thus, the use of this area allows to improve the performance of teams' and players', either in a high performance context or in a training context. This work aims to contribute, fundamentally, to the development of observation and match analysis, lacking objective models. This was accomplished through an internship held in the Training Department of Futebol Clube do Porto. This was combined with the simultaneous intervention in the Observation and Analysis Department, more concretely at U-16, playing the roles of assistant trainer and observer/analyst. In parallel, interviews were made to the Soccer actors with different functions, regarding the creation of a tool, that allows the analysts to improve their practice, as well as for the assistant coaches, while scouting the opponent team. The collected information, the literature review, the interview content, our personal reflections and all the practical experience acquired, allow us to conclude that: 1 - The presence of an observation department and analysis is fundamental in a club for the improvement of the acting of a team or a process, either in formation or in high competition; 2- This observation department and analysis should be a department with a good structure and functionality, which all the intervenient must be aligned; 3 - The analyst's presence in a technical team is fundamental; 4 - The gathering of information in the observation process and analysis from the own team and from the opponent team is essential in the process of enhancement of the team; 5 - The impact of the information collected on the opponent can assume a preponderant role in training settings, namely in the preparation for the match, providing to the coach the possibility to act at the strategic-tactical level, in several game situation.
