However, in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) BPM practices are alarmingly low, despite of the potential positive impacts BPM yields. The problem is that SMEs often have limited resources, the absences of a cross-functional mind-set and a lack of strategic clarity. BPM reduces operational inefficiencies and supports innovative practices which are essential for success, if adopted as a management paradigm across the enterprise. This work project will analyze the current state of value-added business processes in a German high-tech SME, along with its problems and inefficiencies to create standardized models for business operations.
