Scientific culture in the Ibero-American STS field

In the last decades, the ways of teaching had transformations driven by social issues and educational research. The instructional techniques disconnected from the social sphere were questioned and were sought new goals for education. In science education area, one of the ways was to establish the research focus on promoting science as a form of culture, therefore, the scientific practice should not be seen as intangible techniques to the general population, but it should be a knowledge added to the culture of all. To contribute to this line of thinking, we seek to identify if the field Science, Technology and Society (STS) in Ibero-America has discussed in its production the scientific culture topic. We made it through the Social Network Analysis, with the object of research the articles published in the Ibero-American Journal of Science, Technology and Society between 1996 and 2014. Considering that the scientific culture is one of the five most relevant issues in generated network, we enter qualitatively in the articles that addressed this issue to build analytically five categories of interpretation: the importance of education for scientific culture; the need for a more humanistic formation of techno scientists; the identification of stakeholders in technoscience; the sociopolitical construction of scientific culture; and the role of scientific popularization.
