This text refers to the discussions that took place within the scope of GD1 "Mathematics Education in the Pedagogy Degree", during the VIII Paulista Forum for the Teacher Education who Teach Mathematics, which took place in person on March 31, 2023, and April 1, 2023, at the facilities of the Federal Institute of São Paulo, São Paulo campus. Initially, the teacher education in the Pedagogy course is contextualized; then, it is presented the organization of the round of discussion, with a description of the participants' profile and a summary of the reflections brought by the debaters, as well as the issues that the participants debated; at the end, some propositions and referrals are pointed out to think about the undergraduate of teacher education of teachers who teach mathematics in childhood education and primary school. It is argued that there is a need to pay closer attention to the education of these professionals in terms of the workload allocated to them on the course, and the theoretical-methodological issues that are addressed during the undergraduate course, with a view to their professional performance.
