A violência doméstica que atinge a mulher não atinge apenas uma parte da população, pelo contrário atinge todo o mundo, desta forma, a discussão acerca da discriminação da mulher é assunto mundial. E por ter respaldo mundial que a Sra. Maria da Penha com apoio de ONGs, procurou ajuda no cenário internacional, para que seu marido fosse punido pelas agressões sofridas. E após esse fato, o Brasil reconheceu que a violência doméstica e familiar contra a mulher é assunto que merece atenção redobrada, promulgou a lei nº. 11.340/06, ou vulgarmente conhecida Lei Maria da Penha. Esta lei trouxe grandes mudanças ao que se refere à punição do agressor. Entretanto, nem sempre é objetivo da vítima o afastamento do lar deste, a vítima muitas vezes prefere se calar ao ter que desfazer sua família, e com isso em mente, sugiro a aplicação de medidas restaurativas à Lei Maria da Penha, pois é através da Justiça Restaurativa, uma conversa compassiva que valores podem ser mudados.This paper aims to show the reality that lies behind the violence and what generates it. Domestic violence affects a woman who not only reaches a part of the population, by contrast affects the whole world, thus, the discussion about discrimination against women is global issue. And for world support to Mrs. Maria da Penha with support from NGOs, sought help in the international arena, so that her husband would be punished by the attacks suffered. And after that fact, Brazil has recognized that domestic and family violence against women is a matter that deserves attention, promulgated the Law no. 11.340/06, or commonly known Maria da Penha Law. This has brought great changes to the law relating to the punishment of the offender.
