Resumo: The cardiovascular capacity of the individual with chronic kidney disease (CKD) tends to decline with the natural progression of the disease. In this sense, resistance training (RT) is an important non-pharmacological tool in the control and improvement of cardiovascular (CDV) parameters. However, there is no evidence of isometric handgrip RT in this population. Thus, the present study aimed to verify the effect of different isometric RT intensities on the acute response of CDV variables in CKD patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD). This was an experimental study, with acute intervention, cross-over design and sample of 8 patients, mean age 56.63 ?? 12.66 years, who undergoes HD at a private clinic in the city of Bras??lia ??? DF. The participants were randomly assigned to three different moments to analyze the response of the variables heart rate variability (HRV) and blood pressure (BP), being: 1) control; 2) lowintensity isometric RT; 3) moderate-intensity RT. Variables were collected at the beginning of session 5, 15, 30, 40, 60 minutes and immediately after the end. Isometric RT protocols, regardless of intensity, did not show a significant change for both HRV and BP variables during their performances, nor when compared to the control moment. When the moments immediately before and after exercise were analyzed, a significant increase was observed for SBP and DP in the protocol of moderateintensity, but returning to the normal value 10 minutes later. Therefore, the intradialytic isometric RT is a safe, simple and practical therapeutic tool for the intradialytic control of cardiovascular parameters in this population.

dc.description.abstract.eng.fl_txt_mv The cardiovascular capacity of the individual with chronic kidney disease (CKD) tends to decline with the natural progression of the disease.
