Resumo: This article aims to discuss the demands related to reproductive rights and abortion faced by social workers in their daily work, based on data collected during a field research of qualitative character conducted in Londrina (PR). With the contribution of critical social theory and a feminist perspective, the research includes an online questionnaire and semi-structured interviews with social workers. We will approach, based on these data, the social workers’ notion of abortion and we will analyze their perception about demands related to abortion and reproductive rights encountered in daily work, going through professional performance in these situations. We have concluded that situations related to reproductive rights and abortion are part of social workers’ daily work. Although most of the subjects show themselves as protecting women rights, there are still conservative traits in their speech, when talking about abortion.
