An overview from 2015 to 2020 on public policies to encourage sustainability in family farming in the municipality of Dois Vizinhos-PR

Cleaner production, inclusion of young people and women at work, increased income and improved quality of life are some aspects that can be established in the relationship between rural and sustainability. In this context, some public policies adopted in Brazil corroborate sustainable and regional development, as they encourage programs that heat up trade in products from family farming. Thus, this work aims to analyze the Family Agriculture Acquisition Program (PAA), the National School Feeding Program (PNAE) and the National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture (Pronaf) Women and Youth in the municipality of Dois Vizinhos, Paraná, as well as its purpose in enhancing rural sustainability. For this purpose, the methodology used was a quantitative approach with analysis of secondary data - Banco Central do Brasil database, National Supply Company and Applied Economic Research Institute - referring, respectively, to Pronaf Agroecologia, Jovem e Mulher, to PAA and PNAE, in the periods between the years 2015 to 2020. As a result, it was possible to observe a significant decrease in the PAA and PNAE programs over the years, as well as the low number of contracts carried out by Pronaf Agroecologia, Jovem e Mulher. In the municipality studied, there were no contracts in the Pronaf modalities that encourage sustainability, nor records of links with the PAA. Such data show the fragility and the need for revision, adjustments and, eventually, reformulation of public policies to meet the demands of reality, providing the strengthening of family farming and consequently local development.
