Sexuality and gender diversity: the teaching and vision of educational professionals in the Early Years of Basic Education

Resumo: | The teaching of sexuality is cited as necessary in the school environment, especially in early childhood education, being an important theme to be developed with children. Nevertheless, there is resistance from families, education professionals, religions, and political obstacles to addressing this issue. This study sought to explore the personal view of education professionals on sexuality and gender diversity and their teaching in the school environment. Descriptive qualitative research was performed using semi-structured data. The public analyzed is conservative and tends to reflect on the teaching and transmission of information about sexuality and gender diversity in the school environment. We concluded that the way of thinking about sexuality must be changed in the academic, family, religious, and political environments and that the school must provide opportunities for situations involving guidance on the subject. |

Sin embargo, existe resistencia por parte de las familias, los profesionales de la educación, las religiones y los obstáculos políticos para abordar este tema. El objetivo fue explorar la visión personal de los profesionales de la educación sobre la sexualidad y diversidad de género y su enseñanza en el ámbito escolar. Se realizó una investigación cualitativa descriptiva mediante cuestionarios semiestructurados. El perfil del público analizado es conservador y que tiende a reflexionar sobre la enseñanza y la transmisión de información sobre sexualidad y diversidad de género en el ámbito escolar. Se concluyó que es necesario cambiar la forma de pensar sobre la sexualidad en el ámbito académico, familiar, religioso y político y las escuelas necesitan propiciar oportunidades para orientar sobre el tema.O ensino da sexualidade é citado como necessário no ambiente escolar, principalmente na educação infantil, sendo um tema importante a ser trabalhado com as crianças. Entretanto, há uma resistência familiar, dos profissionais de educação, das religiões e empecilhos políticos em relação a abordagem dessa temática. Objetivou-se explorar a visão pessoal dos profissionais da educação sobre a sexualidade e diversidade de gênero e o ensino destes no ambiente escolar. Realizou-se uma pesquisa qualitativa descritiva utilizando questionários semiestruturados. O perfil do público analisado é conservador e que tende a refletir no ensino e na transmissão de informações sobre sexualidade e diversidade de gênero no ambiente escolar.
