Lesson Study as methodology for teacher training

Resumo: Lesson Study is a professional development methodology teachers identified as able to encourage reflection and collaboration among teachers. Weigh the facts to be based on evidence - as teachers evaluate teaching methods that are trying to develop - and use the student voice to develop the quality of education. Its use can be summarized in three steps: collective planning a class, class execution planned by a teacher being observed by others and reflection of the strengths and improve the running class. This article presents results of a qualitative research that involved the use of this methodology in a continuing education course directed to teachers of the 3rd year of elementary school of the Department of São Paulo State Education. The methodology was effective in the observed context, focusing the focus of the training course participants, producing investigative and collaborative attitudes in teachers and promoting professional development and improvement of the studied lesson plan.

Estudos de Aula (“Lesson Study”) é uma metodologia usada para desenvolvimento profissional de professores apontada como capaz de incentivar a reflexão e a colaboração entre eles. Pesam os fatos de ser baseada em evidências - já que professores avaliam os métodos de ensino que estão tentando desenvolver - e usa a voz do estudante para desenvolver a qualidade do ensino. Seu uso pode ser resumido em três etapas: planejamento coletivo de uma aula, execução da aula planejada por um professor sendo observada pelos demais e reflexão dos pontos fortes e sobre a melhora da aula executada. Esse artigo apresenta resultados parciais de uma pesquisa qualitativa que envolveu o uso dessa metodologia num curso de formação continuada direcionado para professores do 3º ano do Ensino Fundamental da Diretoria Leste I da Secretaria de Educação do Estado de São Paulo.
