An investigative activity for the study of the landscape: the Cerrado soil in focus

Resumo: | The present paper is the result of a research that consists of the production and use of an investigative experimental on the study of the Landscape, through the characterization of the Cerrado soil. The activity was elaborated and experimentally tested by a group of teachers from the Specialization Course in Science Teaching at the Scientific and Cultural Divulgation Center (CDCC in Portuguese), in the city of São Carlos, SP. The proposition of the activity emerged in the discipline of Research in Science Teaching, to get to know the different compartments of this biome. The study area was a fragment of Cerrado, located on the campus of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The methodology was based on the Hands-on Program, which consisted of: hypothesis survey, direct observation of the environment, experimentation, bibliographic research, written record, and personal and collective conclusions around the problem question “how is the Cerrado soil characterized?”. Seven hypotheses about the features were raised, which only five were tested due to the laboratory´s limitation. Although it is perceived that the consolidation of a traditional model, which leads to a difficulty in the development of hypotheses, as well as in the dependence for ready answers, the group was able to overcome this problem, showing interest and creativity to develop the stages of the investigation, as well how to obtain and discuss the results. |

La actividad fue confeccionada y probado experimentalmente por un grupo de profesores del Curso de Especialización en Enseñanza de las Ciencias del Centro de Divulgación Científica y Cultural (CDCC), en la ciudad de São Carlos, SP. La propuesta de la actividad surgió en la disciplina de Investigación en Docencia de las Ciencias, para conocer los diferentes compartimentos de este bioma. El área de estudio fue un fragmento del Cerrado, ubicado en el campus de la Universidad Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar). La metodología se basó en el Programa Manos en la Massa, que consistió en: levantamiento de hipótesis, observación directa del entorno, experimentación, investigación bibliográfica, registro escrito y las conclusiones personales y colectivas sobre la pregunta problemática “¿cómo se caracteriza el suelo del Cerrado?". Se plantearon siete hipótesis sobre las características, de las cuales solo cinco fueron probadas debido a la limitación del laboratorio. Si bien se percibe que la consolidación de un modelo tradicional, que conlleva una dificultad en el desarrollo de hipótesis, así como la dependencia de respuestas prefabricadas, el grupo supo superar este problema, mostrando interés y creatividad para desarrollar las etapas de investigación, así como cómo obtener y discutir los resultados.O presente trabalho é o resultado de uma pesquisa que consiste na produção e utilização de uma atividade experimental investigativa sobre o estudo da Paisagem, por meio da caracterização do solo do Cerrado. A atividade foi elaborada e testada experimentalmente por um grupo de professores do curso de Especialização em Ensino de Ciências do Centro de Divulgação Científica e Cultural (CDCC), na cidade de São Carlos, SP. A proposição da atividade emergiu na disciplina de Investigação em Ensino de Ciências, para conhecer os diferentes compartimentos desse bioma. A área de estudo foi um fragmento de Cerrado, localizado no campus da Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCar). A metodologia foi pautada no Programa Mão na Massa, que consistiu em: levantamento de hipóteses, observação direta do ambiente, experimentação, realização de pesquisa bibliográfica, registro escrito e as conclusões pessoais e coletivas acerca da questão-problema: “como é caracterizado o solo do Cerrado?”. Foram levantadas sete hipóteses sobre as características, das quais apenas cinco foram testadas devido à limitação do laboratório.
