Language games in the Wittgenstein perspective evidenced Mathematical Modeling activities

Resumo: In this paper, the objective is to evidence and analyze the existence of language games, from the philosophy of Wittgenstein (1999), in Mathematical Modeling activities developed with a group of students of the Pre-Calculus Course of the Electrical Engineering Course at IFMA - Campus Empress. The approach was qualitative, as it sought comprehension of students' attitudes when establishing language games during the accomplishment of Mathematical Modeling activities. For this, the data were collected through class recordings and the semi-structured interview so that they could then be transcribed and analyzed. With the results obtained, it was possible to conclude that such games are present in all phases of the development of Mathematical Modeling, that problem solving arises from the context experienced by the students and that are governed by rules previously established. During the interview, students emphasized that contextual issues contributed to the understanding and application of mathematics in everyday life.

A abordagem foi qualitativa buscando compreensões das atitudes dos alunos ao estabelecerem jogos de linguagem na tentativa de buscar significações às tarefas. Concluímos que tais jogos estão presentes em todas as etapas do desenvolvimento de Modelagem Matemática, que a resolução de problemas surge a partir do contexto vivenciado pelos alunos e que são regidas por regras estabelecidas previamente.
