Inquiry-Based Science education: contributions of articles from open databases to teaching praxis

Resumo: Research on the approach to Inquiry-Based Science Education has shown favorable results for learning. Its implementation in the classroom requires the teacher to take ownership of this approach and learn about successful examples for transforming his teaching praxis. Bibliography can be an important ally for teachers who want to work Inquiry-Based Science Education with their students. Thus, we conducted a systematic review in open databases, therefore, available for consultation by teachers, aiming to characterize the empirical articles and how they contribute to teaching praxis. As a result, we had 20 articles applied to Basic Education. Physics teaching predominated. Articles with practical activities focused on Physics and Chemistry, and text research activities, on Biology. Aspects that may be related to the contents traditionally worked on in basic education and to the nature of these sciences. Half of the work applied to high school was carried out in technical schools, raising questions related to differences in these institutions that make it possible for teachers to be involved in this approach. The articles included: concept learning, engagement and scientific literacy. However, an important issue was observed in the studies: the evaluation within this approach is still little explored in the research.

Su implementación en el aula requiere que el docente se apropie de este enfoque y aprenda sobre ejemplos exitosos para transformar su praxis docente. La bibliografía puede ser un aliado importante para los profesores que desean trabajar la educación científica basada en la investigación con sus alumnos. Así, realizamos una revisión sistemática en bases de datos abiertas, o sea, disponibles para consulta por parte del profesorado, con el objetivo de caracterizar los artículos empíricos y cómo contribuyen a la praxis docente. Como resultado, tuvimos 20 artículos aplicados a Educación Básica. Predominó la enseñanza de la física. Artículos con actividades prácticas centradas en Física y Química, y actividades de investigación de textos, en Biología. Aspectos que pueden estar relacionados con los contenidos tradicionalmente trabajados en la educación básica y con la naturaleza de estas ciencias. La mitad del trabajo aplicado al bachillerato se realizó en escuelas técnicas, lo que generó interrogantes relacionados con las diferencias en estas instituciones que posibilitan que los docentes se involucren en este enfoque. Los artículos incluyeron: aprendizaje de conceptos, participación y alfabetización científica. Sin embargo, se observó un tema importante en los estudios: la evaluación dentro de este enfoque aún está poco explorada en la investigación.Pesquisas sobre a abordagem do Ensino de Ciências por Investigação têm apresentado resultados favoráveis para a aprendizagem. Sua implantação em sala de aula requer que o professor se aproprie desta abordagem e conheça exemplos de sucesso para transformação de sua práxis docente. A bibliografia pode ser um importante aliado de professores que queiram trabalhar o Ensino de Ciências por Investigação com seus alunos. Assim, realizamos uma revisão sistemática em bases de busca abertas, ou seja, disponíveis para consulta dos professores, objetivando caracterizar os artigos empíricos e como contribuem para a práxis docente. Como resultado, obtivemos 20 trabalhos aplicados à Educação Básica, com predominância no ensino de Física. Os artigos com atividades práticas concentravam-se em Física e Química, e atividades de investigação de textos, em Biologia, aspectos que podem estar relacionados aos conteúdos tradicionalmente trabalhados no ensino básico e à natureza dessas ciências. Metade dos trabalhos aplicados ao Ensino Médio foi realizada em escolas técnicas, levantando questões relacionadas a diferenças dessas instituições que possibilitam o envolvimento dos professores nessa abordagem. Os artigos contemplavam: aprendizagem de conceitos, engajamento e alfabetização científica.
