The teaching of Botany in a perspective of Science, Technology and Society

Resumo: | In the opinion of teachers, the teaching of Botany has many terminologies, away from the reality of students. The curricula and teaching practices used in teaching Botany are reproductions of academic teaching occurred in teacher training. In seeking solutions to the problems it was developed and tested a strategy for the study of flowers in the Biological Sciences course, in a perspective of Science, Technology and Society. The strategy consisted of literature review, preparation and presentation of the various groups in the proposed work on the theme: "The study of flowers in an ecological approach, evolutionary, socio-cultural and economic." We found that the problems in the teaching of Botany primary and secondary levels are the same as previously reported by teachers. From these findings, it was used as a strategy a morpho-functional approach, with theoretical and practical lessons on flowers in natural and man-made environment, fostering a better relationship and integration of students with the study of Botany. At the end of these studies, students reported that enabled learning strategies used in a more efficient and enjoyable, contributing to the development of a new profile in the training of future teachers of biology. |

Os currículos e práticas pedagógicas utilizadas no ensino de Botânica são reproduções do ensino acadêmico ocorrido na formação dos professores. Na busca de soluções para os problemas levantados desenvolveu-se e testou-se uma estratégia para o estudo das flores no curso de Ciências Biológicas, por meio de uma abordagem Ciência, Tecnologia e Sociedade. A estratégia utilizada constou de pesquisa bibliográfica, elaboração e apresentação em grupos dos diversos trabalhos propostos sobre o tema: “O estudo de flores numa abordagem ecológica, evolutiva, sócio-cultural e econômica.” Constatou-se que os problemas do ensino de Botânica nos níveis fundamental e médio são os mesmos relatados anteriormente pelos professores. A partir dessas constatações, utilizou-se como estratégia uma abordagem morfofuncional, com aulas teóricas e práticas, sobre flores em ambiente antrópico e natural, favorecendo uma melhor relação e integração dos alunos com o estudo de Botânica.
