Matrices and cryptography: contributions of an activity about Whatsapp in High School

Resumo: Providing activities with applicability of mathematical content has been one of the great demands of students of basic education. Matrix content, when addressed in the second grade of high school, is one of the targets of questioning by students about its practical utility. Given the transformations and technological innovations, content related to this theme seems to gain more attention from students, proving to be a possible teaching strategy for the mathematics teacher. In this sense, the theme cryptography was used through the methodology of the Fedathi Sequence, complemented by worksheets  involving WhatsApp, to provoke the students to the knowledge. Through class recordings, photos, logbook and material produced by the students, it was possible to verify the stimulus to curiosity, the active participation of the students in the classes and a new attribution of meaning to the content of matrices.

O conteúdo de matrizes, quando abordado na segunda série do ensino médio, é um dos alvos de questionamentos pelos estudantes quanto à sua utilidade prática.  Diante das transformações e inovações tecnológicas, conteúdos relacionados a este tema parecem ganhar mais a atenção dos alunos, mostrando-se como uma possível estratégia de ensino para o professor de Matemática. Nesse sentido, foi utilizado o tema criptografia por meio da metodologia da Sequência Fedathi, complementada por fichas de atividades envolvendo o WhatsApp, para provocar os discentes ao conhecimento.
