The integration between Music and Mathematics: a systematic literature review

Resumo: This work presents a systematic review of studies published between 2002 and 2022 on the integration between Music and Mathematics in teaching and learning. The methodology of the work follows the steps developed by Moreira (2004): the choice of subject and establishment of objectives; bibliographic survey; inspectional reading; establishment and application of a reading script; organization of relevant research according to a logical criterion; critical evaluation and conclusion. The words used as descriptors were “música”, “matemática”, “educação”, “music”, “mathematics”, “education”, “música”, “matemáticas” e “educación”. The searches were carried out in the following databases: Scopus, Web of Science, Eric, Scielo and Scholar google. Finally, 18 articles were analyzed according to Gibbs (2009). It was found the excessive use of content such as numerical operations and fractions, in addition to the difficulty to create strategies that mutually enrich the learning of both Music and Mathematics.

La metodología del trabajo sigue los pasos desarrollados por Moreira (2004): la elección del tema y establecimiento de objetivos; relevamiento bibliográfico; lectura de inspección; establecimiento y aplicación de un guión de lectura; organización de investigaciones relevantes de acuerdo con un criterio lógico; evaluación crítica y conclusión. Las palabras utilizadas como descriptores fueron “música”, “matemática”, “educação”, “music”, “mathematics”, “education”, “música”, “matemáticas” e “educación”. Las búsquedas se realizaron en las siguientes bases de datos: Scopus, Web of Science, Eric, Scielo y Scholar google. Finalmente, se analizaron 18 artículos según Gibbs (2009). Se detectó un uso excesivo de contenidos como operaciones numéricas y fracciones, además de la dificultad de crear estrategias que enriquezcan mutuamente el aprendizaje de la Música y las Matemáticas.O presente trabalho apresenta uma revisão sistemática de estudos publicados entre 2002 e 2022 acerca da integração entre a Música e a Matemática no ensino e aprendizagem. A metodologia do trabalho segue as etapas desenvolvidas por Moreira (2004): a escolha do assunto e estabelecimento dos objetivos; levantamento bibliográfico; leitura inspecional; estabelecimento e aplicação de roteiro de leitura; organização das pesquisas relevantes segundo um critério lógico; avaliação crítica e conclusão. As palavras utilizadas como descritores foram “música”, “matemática”, “educação”, “music”, “mathematics”, “education”, “música”, “matemáticas” e “educación”. As buscas foram realizadas nas seguintes bases: Scopus; Web of Science; Eric; Scielo e Scholar Google. Finalmente, 18 artigos foram analisados segundo Gibbs (2009).
