Training of literacy teachers for teaching and learning of Statistics

Resumo: The present text addresses pedagogical practices aimed at the teaching and learning of Statistics in the continuing teacher education offered by PNAIC. We developed this research from the portfolios of five literacy teachers. As a research methodology we use content analysis to reveal the meanings attributed by the teachers to the lived experience. In the course of this study, there is evidence of advances in the pedagogical knowledge of the teachers who participated in the training related to Statistics. Portfolio records show that the meeting made possible situations related to the training principles highlighted in the course proposal. Among several points, the analysis of the portfolios allowed to verify that the literacy teachers demonstrate to have acquired new knowledge; perceiving the importance of research as the structuring axis of pedagogical actions and the content of Statistics. The activities performed demonstrate that students should learn Statistics by doing Statistics, researching, organizing data, representing them in the form of graphs, interpreting them critically. Games allow the development of these skills. They claim to have realized that statistics can be developed with simple questions. They highlight the need to improve the practices and the contextualization of the content related to Statistics.

Desenvolvemos essa investigação a partir de portfólios de cinco alfabetizadoras. Como metodologia de pesquisa utilizamos a análise de conteúdo para desvelar os sentidos atribuídos pelas docentes à formação vivenciada. No decorrer desse estudo se evidencia avanços nos saberes pedagógicos das professoras que participaram da formação referente à Estatística. Os registros dos portfólios demonstram que o encontro possibilitou situações ligadas aos princípios formativos destacados na proposta do curso. Entre vários pontos, a análise dos portfólios permitiu verificar que as alfabetizadoras demonstram ter adquirido novos saberes; percebendo a importância da pesquisa como eixo estruturador de ações pedagógicas e do conteúdo de Estatística. As atividades realizadas demonstram que os alunos devem aprender Estatística fazendo Estatística, pesquisando, organizando dados, representando-os em forma de gráficos, interpretando-os de forma crítica. Os jogos oportunizam o desenvolvimento dessas habilidades. Afirmam ter percebido que a Estatística pode ser desenvolvida com questões simples.
