Reflections about the potentiality of the History of Sciences in Science teaching through the subject Scientific Revolution

Resumo: In this article, we focus on discussing the potential of the dialogue between the History of Sciences and the teaching of sciences, through the analysis of the theme  Scientific Revolution of the 17th-18th centuries, approached in historiographical and conceptual aspects, seeking to promote a critical and problematization scientific education, distanced from the “banking concept of education”, theorized by Paulo Freire. In the way to achieve our objective expressed above, the study analyzes different historiographical narratives about the Scientific Revolution, besides valuing the proposal to understand the conceptual juxtaposition between Aristotelianism and the new science of modernity. The research methodology, with a qualitative approach based on bibliographic analysis, is based on the theoretical discussion about the studies related to the interface of the History of Sciences and teaching Science and on the historiographical discussion on the Scientific Revolution and Aristotelianism, present in this context. We consider that this approach, presenting the scientific development as a complex and dialogic process related to sociocultural demands, improve a critical and problematization scientific education.

Buscando alcançar nosso objetivo expresso acima, o estudo aborda diferentes narrativas historiográficas sobre a Revolução Científica, bem como valoriza a proposta de compreensão de justaposição conceitual entre o aristotelismo e a nova ciência da modernidade. A metodologia da pesquisa, de abordagem qualitativa a partir de análise bibliográfica, se apoia na discussão teórica de estudos relacionados à interface da História das Ciências e o ensino e a discussão historiográfica sobre a Revolução Científica e sobre o aristotelismo presente naquele contexto, como forma de fundamentar nossas reflexões sobre o potencial da História das Ciências no ensino de ciências.
