A programme of scientific and technological literacy with a CTS focus, in an artisan community, in Alagoas

Resumo: This paper describes and analyses data of a research related to a program of scientific and technological literacy (STL) of CTS, developed with a group of filé artisans, in Pontal da Barra district, Maceió, Brasil, that highlights two topics: environmental education and education for health. The research was realized for a doctorate thesis on Science and Mathematics Teaching. Inspired by Fourez and Chassot, the research was based on testing possibilities of developing this program for adult learners outside the borders of a school, in their own community, as a privileged locus for doing the analysis in the real location, providing the integration among popular knowledge and the raising of existent problems. The program focused on the acquisition and appropriation of scientific and technological knowledge, as well as on change of attitudes that might contribute for citizenship formation and the conscious decisions, specifically in science and technology. The evaluations realized during and at the end of the program showed that the artisans were able to transform some of their attitudes into the awareness of changes in their routines and everyday lives, on the domain of cognitive, affective, attitudinal and cultural dimensions.

A pesquisa foi realizada para tese de doutoramento em Ensino de Ciência e Matemática. Inspirando-se em Fourez e Chassot, testou possibilidades de se desenvolver este programa para adultos fora dos muros da escola, na própria comunidade, como lugar privilegiado para se fazer a análise da realidade local, a integração com os saberes populares e o levantamento de problemas ali existentes. O programa centrou-se no apropriar-se de conhecimentos científicos e tecnológicos e na mudança de atitudes que contribuíssem para a formação cidadã e a tomada de decisões conscientes, especificamente em ciência e tecnologia.
