Fire juggling: An ethnography between imaginary and symbolic

Resumo: With an ethnographic support a performative writing, this article argued about the fire juggling show Wiking: a sound battle. Was realize a descriptive analysis of the scene, complemented with Laban's factors movement, articulated with a reflexive critical analysis based on Alessandro Fontana’s theories. The study highlighted that fire juggling has peculiarities called "limit variables", which influence the practice of the technique, and revealed that the junction between the circus disciplines used, the actions performed and the context of the presentation involves the e death, in both register: the imaginary and on the symbolic.

Este artículo discutió el espectáculo de malabares con fuego Wiking: una batalla sonora desde una escritura performativa, con soporte etnográfico. A través de un análisis descriptivo de la escena, complementado con los factores de movimiento de Laban, articulado con un análisis crítico reflexivo basado en las teorías de Alessandro Fontana, se destacó que el malabarismo de fuego posee peculiaridades denominadas variables límite, que influyen en la práctica de la técnica; además, el estudio mostró que las disciplinas circenses utilizadas, las acciones realizadas y el contexto de la presentación involucran la muerte, tanto en el registro imaginario como en el simbólico. Neste artigo discutiu-se sobre o espetáculo de malabarismo de fogo Wiking: Uma Batalha Sonora, a partir de uma escrita performativa com viés etnográfico. Através de uma análise descritiva da cena, complementada com fatores de movimento de Laban, articulada com uma análise crítico reflexiva baseada nas teorias de Alessandro Fontana, destacou-se que o malabarismo de fogo possui peculiaridades denominadas variáveis limites, que influenciam na prática da técnica; além disso, o estudo evidenciou que as disciplinas circenses utilizadas, as ações realizadas e o contexto da apresentação envolvem a morte, tanto no registro imaginário quanto no simbólico.
