Quality of life at work:: perceptions about its importance as a public service valorization policy

Resumo: The programs of quality of working life arise, as an attempt to minimize these new work organization’s negative effects. They intend to value people who undertake efforts to achieve institutional goals. In this case study, data was collected from interviews and documentary research as we aimed to understand the beneficiaries’ perception of a program. This program intends to improve quality of working life, due to its importance as a recovery policy in the public service. The research was conducted with seven workers of the organ, in which the program is developed as a pilot project to be expanded to all the state organs/entities. The results show that the program is considered to be valid as a policy of recovery, because it promotes integration of workers, decreases theoccupational stress and increases their selfesteem. However, its proposal is not connected to other policies considered to be elementary, which compromises its relevance as a recovery policy. Policies of this sort are related to changes in work organization and in working conditions, elements considered to be crucial to a good quality of working life in the studied institution.

Neste estudo de caso, procuramos conhecer, por meio de entrevistas e pesquisa documental, a percepção dos beneficiários de um programa que tem como objetivo melhorar a qualidade de vida no trabalho, procurando especificar seu nível de importância como política de valorização no serviço público. A pesquisa foi realizada com sete trabalhadores do órgão onde o programa é desenvolvido como projeto-piloto. Os resultados encontrados demonstram que o programa é considerado válido enquanto política de valorização por promover a integração entre os trabalhadores, diminuição do estresse ocupacional e aumentando sua autoestima.
