Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic, which broke out in 2020, imposed school closures and the implementation of emergency remote education (ERE) in Brazil and elsewhere. To continue school activities in the middle of the semester, teachers and students encountered many difficulties in accessing the internet and handling equipment, techniques, and teaching materials. This article analyzes the results of a survey completed by 397 high school students in the Metropolitan Region of the city of Fortaleza (capital of the state of Ceará, Brazil), in the second semester of 2021, who experienced this moment of social isolation, when they detected: a negative impact on learning, difficulties in keeping up with remote classes, isolation and less motivation to study. This research, which is segmented by average monthly family income, is descriptive and quantitative, and analyzes aspects of the study environment and the learners' school performance.

EdUECE - Editora da Universidade Estadual do Ceará2023-11-17info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfapplication/pdftext/xmlhttps://revistas.uece.br/index.php/revpemo/article/view/1156610.47149/pemo.v5.e11566Educational Practices, Memories and Oralities; Vol. 5 (2023): Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidades; e11566Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidades; Vol. 5 (2023): Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidades; e11566Práticas Educativas, Memórias e Oralidades - Rev.
