Resumo: This article aims to investigate the relationship between African cinema and aesthetic education through a mythohermeneutic study of the Mozambican film Chikwembo, directed by Julio Silva. While the approach can be established using Western analytical canons, an African perspective is proposed regarding how art and aesthetics are inseparably related to everyday life and culture in an ethical dimension that involves ways of living. The results indicate the presence of a pedagogical dimension of black cinema, which is based on how African culture circulates through art and, more specifically, through cinema.

Aunque el enfoque puede establecerse utilizando los cánones analíticos occidentales, se propone una mirada africana sobre cómo el arte y la estética se relacionan indisolublemente con la vida cotidiana y la cultura, en una dimensión ética que involucra los modos de vida. Los resultados señalan la presencia de una dimensión pedagógica del cine negro, que se basa en la forma en que circula la cultura africana a través del arte y, más específicamente, del cine.Este artigo tem como objetivo investigar a relação entre cinema africano e educação estética por meio de um estudo mitohermenêutico do filme moçambicano Chikwembo, de Julio Silva. Por mais que a abordagem possa ser estabelecida com o uso dos cânones analíticos ocidentais, propõe-se um olhar africano sobre o modo como a arte e a estética relacionam-se indissociavelmente com o cotidiano e a cultura, numa dimensão ética, isto é, que envolve os modos de vida.
