Resumo: The present work aims to present the importance of using mental maps as a methodological tool, in the teaching-learning process, contributing to the resolution of challenges faced during remote teaching and to the understanding of geographic concepts, in the context of the pandemic. . For that, it takes into account the experience used in the development of activities in the discipline of Geography, applied through the Institutional Program of Scholarships for Teaching Initiation-PIBID, linked to the State University of Piauí-UESPI, in a public school from the city of Teresina/PI, from 2021 to 2022. Reaching satisfactory results, which point to a significant contribution to the teaching-learning of students in educational institutions.
