Cearense female education through the Normal School (1884-1930)

The work in question aims to provide a brief overview of the changes in educational aspects for women with the Escola Normal do Ceará, from 1884 to 1930. For this, an analysis of gender issues and the social view of women as a weaker gender was needed. and intellectually inferior, making the subjects for the few female schools different from the male ones. With this analysis, it is also possible to perceive this educational formation focused on the judiciary and the formation of a cycle in which women graduate from the Escola Normal and saw education professionals passing on the teachings to other girls. To this end, articles from the newspaper O Nordeste and the statistical, administrative, commercial, and literary Almanac from the State of Ceará were analyzed, which provide data on the topic presented. The newspaper O Nordeste offers us a more conservative look, with which it is possible to see what was thought about the girls and how they should act. With Almanac we were able to access more quantitative research, with lists of teachers.
