Cearense female education through the Normal School (1884-1930)

Resumo: The work in question aims to provide a brief overview of the changes in educational aspects for women with the Escola Normal do Ceará, from 1884 to 1930. For this, an analysis of gender issues and the social view of women as a weaker gender was needed. and intellectually inferior, making the subjects for the few female schools different from the male ones. With this analysis, it is also possible to perceive this educational formation focused on the judiciary and the formation of a cycle in which women graduate from the Escola Normal and saw education professionals passing on the teachings to other girls. To this end, articles from the newspaper O Nordeste and the statistical, administrative, commercial, and literary Almanac from the State of Ceará were analyzed, which provide data on the topic presented. The newspaper O Nordeste offers us a more conservative look, with which it is possible to see what was thought about the girls and how they should act. With Almanac we were able to access more quantitative research, with lists of teachers.

With Almanac we were able to access more quantitative research, with lists of teachers.O trabalho em questão objetiva realizar um panorama breve sobre as mudanças nos aspectos educacionais para as mulheres com a Escola Normal do Ceará, de 1884 a 1930. Para tal foi precisa uma análise sobre questões de gênero e a visão social da mulher como gênero mais fraco e intelectualmente inferior, fazendo com que as disciplinas para as poucas escolas femininas fossem diferentes das masculinas. Com essa análise se torna possível também perceber essa formação educacional voltada para a magistratura e a formação de um ciclo em que mulheres se formam na Escola Normal e viram profissionais de educação repassando os ensinamentos para outras moças. Para tal, foram analisadas matérias do jornal O Nordeste e do Almanaque estatístico, administrativo, comercial e literário do Estado do Ceará que fornecem dados sobre o tema apresentado. O jornal O Nordeste nos oferece um olhar mais conservador, com ele é possível ver o que se pensava sobre as moças e como essas deveriam agir.
