Resumo: This article aims to contribute to the reflection on the term accountability and the implications that its dimensions, especially evaluation, can promote within universities and their relationship with social demands. The research uses bibliographic studies, with a qualitative approach. It was found that the concept of accountability expresses mandatory behaviors to the educational manager, as he must be attentive to the accountability procedures of his managerial acts. In addition, the accountability logic radiates a competitive scenario to achieve the "supposed" efficiency, effectiveness and effectiveness. In this perspective, SINAES expresses the notion of accountability and accountability, since if the institution does not fit within the quality parameters, a low concept will be assigned, which may even denote possible disqualifications from courses.

A pesquisa utiliza-se de estudos bibliográficos, com abordagem qualitativa. Constatou-se que o conceito de accountability expressa comportamentos obrigatórios ao gestor educacional, pois deverá estar atento aos procedimentos de prestação de contas de seus atos gerenciais. Em acréscimo, a lógica da accountability irradiam um cenário de competitividade para atingir as “supostas” eficiência, eficácia e efetividade.
