Resumo: This text deals with the formative path of teacher Maria do Socorro Gomes, an educator from Ceará born in 1967. Daughter of a single mother, Maria do Socorro Gomes went through many financial deprivations during her educational formative path, so much so that at times she had to abandon the studies to work. Therefore, our objective in this work is to analyze the difficulties encountered by Maria do Socorro in her training, from her literacy to the completion of her doctoral course at the Federal University of Ceará. Methodologically, this work has a qualitative approach, where we seek to understand a little of the education of women from the biographical perspective, with the life story of Maria do Socorro Gomes. The results show that despite all the difficulties Maria do Socorro managed to achieve success in her training path. It is concluded that the life story of this educator helps us to understand a little about the history of education and women.

Filha de mãe solo, Maria do Socorro Gomes passou por muitas privações financeiras durante seu percurso formativo educacional, tanto que em alguns momentos teve que abandonar os estudos para trabalhar. Sendo assim, nosso objetivo neste trabalho é analisar as dificuldades encontradas por Maria do Socorro em sua formação, desde sua alfabetização até a conclusão do curso de doutorado na Universidade Federal do Ceará. Metodologicamente, este trabalho possui uma abordagem qualitativa, onde buscamos compreender um pouco da educação de mulheres a partir da perspectiva biográfica, com a história de vida de Maria do Socorro Gomes. Os resultados denotam que apesar de todas as dificuldades Maria do Socorro conseguiu alcançar sucesso no seu percurso formativo.
