Resumo: Herewith is argued that there is no correlation between Globalization and the Welfare State's decline. It is also considered that the loss of national identity - a result from structural transformations as well as the new liberal discourse - is a key element in the 'democratic disaffection' within the European Union which is rather threatened by the specifics of its unification process than by Globalization.
