Audiovisual and iconographic documents in archives in the twentieth and XXI centuries: analysis of theoretical instruments

Objective: The article aims to present the variety of supports, genres, forms and documentary formats in the field of Archival Science, one of the issues in the field of archival studies is new ways of documenting, in this sense, the essay aims to present the course of the approach of audiovisual and iconographic records in the field, raising the theoretical instructions, regarding guidelines and publications, starting from the international context to the Brazil context. Methods: the essay is characterized as a bibliographic methodological approach, qualitative of theoretical and reflective nature that analyzed the international propositions and the possible influences that had in the proposals of the Technical Chamber of Audiovisual, Iconographic, Sound and Musical Documents (CTDAISM), bonded to the National Council Archives (CONARQ), as these bodies are responsible for pointing out the archival procedures. Results: In this way, it was possible to verify that the national bodies responsible for archival policies, with regard to audiovisual and iconographic records, suffered influences that converged and also diverged in the initial questions regarding theoretical and methodological procedures, unfolding in the first initiatives for the organization and documentary treatment of these records in Brazil. Conclusions: It was noted that the first international publications and guidelines helped with national proposals, favoring the understanding of audiovisual and iconographic records, but at first highlighting the historical character and the need to preserve these documents. There is also an absence in the theoretical and methodological approach. It should be emphasized that it is essential that the responsible bodies formulate national policies for the management of these records and protectionist policies that guarantee the effective records management.
