Resumo: | The pedagogical and conceptual bases of the teachers´ formation program in Literacy and Language (Pro-literacy) for the early years of elementary education are problematized. The reduction in schooling knowledge to basic abilities found in the current evaluation reference for literacy and initial schooling of the ‘Provinha Brasil’ is also investigated. Results show that the reduction of the educational process to the teaching of Mathematics and Portuguese in the first years of fundamental education leads towards curriculum degradation. The reduction of literacy and language knowledge to reading is against the children’s right of expression and fails to promote the quality development of schooling in Brazil. |

Este texto problematiza as bases pedagógicas e conceituais do programa de formação de professores em Alfabetização e Linguagem dos anos/séries iniciais do Ensino Fundamental – o Pró-letramento – e discute o processo de redução dos conhecimentos escolares às habilidades básicas contidas na atual matriz de referência da avaliação da alfabetização e do letramento inicial da Provinha Brasil. Conclui que a redução do processo educativo nos anos/séries iniciais do Ensino Fundamental ao ensino de Matemática e Língua Portuguesa contribui para o esvaziamento dos currículos e que a redução dos conhecimentos da alfabetização e linguagem à leitura contraria o direito de expressão das crianças pequenas e não promove o desenvolvimento da qualidade da educação nacional.
