Resumo: This study investigated the correlation between arbitrary family culture and school culture in grammar teaching. Through bibliographical research and application of an on-line questionnaire, an attempt was made to investigate, summarily, the hypothesis that a child with a familiar linguistic habitus different from the linguistic habitus required by the school may have greater difficulty than a child with a cultural arbitrary similar to the schoolchildren. The main authors referenced in this study are Bourdieu and Passeron (2010), Bourdieu (2015), Barrera and Maluf (2004), Moreira (2017), Borges Neto (2013), Silva (2016) and Travaglia (2009). The on-line questionnaire was aimed at high school students from a public school centered in the city of Imperatriz/Maranhão State. It was found that economic and social factors influence the formation of the linguistic habitus, distancing it from the linguistic culture required by formal basic education institutions.

Universidade Estadual De Maringá2022-11-07info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttp://www.periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/ActaSciLangCult/article/view/6260110.4025/actascilangcult.v44i2.62601Acta Scientiarum.
