O magnetismo terrestre: uma proposta de ensino com abordagem CTSA

Resumo: Each era brings with it new challenges for science teaching and, to meet them, new methodological proposals and innovative approaches are tried out. Considering the challenges of teaching science that takes into account sustainable scientific and technological development, in this research we chose to follow an approach that seeks to work with physics content based on themes that enable reflections involving Science, Technology, Society, and the Environment or, as it has become better known: a CTSA approach. In this research, we aim to identify and discuss the possibilities and/or limitations of a teaching experience with a CTSA approach to the study of terrestrial magnetism in its relationship with living organisms, the biosphere, and life on the planet. Naturally, the topic was chosen because of the importance of terrestrial magnetism for organic beings and all life on Earth, but also historical reasons. Magnetic phenomena, as well as electrostatic phenomena, are much older than modern electromagnetism and are not always given due attention in science studies. Most textbooks present this discussion in a summarized and superficial way. To contribute to this demand, paradidactic material with a CTSA approach will be developed for teaching terrestrial magnetism. We believe that this proposal is important for helping students and teachers take a new approach to teaching this content.

Considerando os desafios de um ensino de ciências que leve em consideração um desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico sustentável, nesta pesquisa fizemos a opção de seguir uma abordagem que procura trabalhar os conteúdos de física a partir de temáticas que possibilitem reflexões envolvendo Ciência, Tecnologia, Sociedade e Ambiente ou, como ficou mais conhecido: uma abordagem CTSA. Nesta pesquisa objetivamos identificar e discutir as possibilidades e/ou limitações de uma experiência de ensino com abordagem CTSA para o estudo do magnetismo terrestre em sua relação com os organismos vivos, a biosfera e a vida no planeta. Naturalmente, a escolha do tema se deu por conta da importância do magnetismo terrestre para os seres orgânicos e toda a vida na Terra, mas também por questões históricas. Os fenômenos magnéticos, assim como as manifestações eletrostáticas são bem mais antigos que o eletromagnetismo moderno e nem sempre são considerados com a devida atenção nos estudos de ciências. A maioria dos livros didáticos apresenta essa discussão de maneira resumida e superficial. No sentido de contribuir com esta demanda, será elaborado um material paradidático com abordagem CTSA para o ensino do magnetismo terrestre.
