The quality of university education in a federal institution: management, identity and scenarios

Resumo: The present study aimed to analyze the perceptions about the quality of university education at a Federal Institution of Higher Education (FIHE) in the Midwest of Brazil, using a qualitative approach through the technique of completing sentences. The 202 research participants were organized into three groups: 23 Administrative Technicians in Education (ATEs), 56 professors and 123 students. Three categories were identified that correspond to the perception of quality in university education: management (75.1%); identity (15.1%); and scenario (9.6%). The predominant indicators came from the academic management subcategory, that the university and its leaders require: quality of university education, commitment to university education, increased practice, and methods to the detriment of theory, support, increased research and projects, connection between the institution, the community and society, university education aimed at the job market and the construction of knowledge in search of shared solutions.

Los 202 participantes de la investigación fueron organizados en tres grupos: 23 Técnicos Administrativos en Educación (TAEs), 56 profesores y 123 estudiantes. Se identificaron tres categorías que corresponden a la percepción de la calidad en la educación universitaria: gestión (75,1%); identidad (15,1%) y escenario (9,6%). Los indicadores predominantes procedieron de la subcategoría de gestión académica, que requieren de la universidad y de sus administradores: la calidad en la formación académica, el compromiso con la educación, el aumento de la práctica y métodos en detrimento de la teoría, apoyo, aumento de las investigaciones y proyectos, vinculación entre la institución, la comunidad y la sociedad, formación orientada al mercado laboral y la construcción de conocimiento en busca de soluciones compartidas.O presente estudo objetivou analisar as percepções sobre a qualidade na formação universitária de uma Instituição Federal de Ensino Superior (IFES) no Centro-Oeste do Brasil, empregando uma abordagem qualitativa por meio da técnica de completar sentenças. Os 202 participantes da pesquisa foram divididos em três grupos: 23 Técnicos Administrativos em Educação (TAEs), 56 professores e 123 alunos. Identificou-se três categorias que correspondem à percepção da qualidade na formação universitária: gestão (75,1%); identidade (15,1%); cenário (9,6%).
