Early childhood teachers’ awareness of psychomotricity

Resumo: The present study has the purpose of investigating teachers from a public school in the North of Parana’s awareness of the importance of psychomotricity in children’s learning process and its’ understanding. The data were collected with a questionnaire with two open-ended questions to find out what is known about psychomotricity and its’ relation with learning and children’s learning difficulties, according to the participating teachers. The results indicated that the concept of psychomotricity is well-understood among the participants, but there is little knowledge about the connection between learning and practicing psychomotor skills as a means of preventing leaning difficulties.

El instrumento utilizado para la recolección de datos fue un cuestionario con dos preguntas abiertas, a través del cual se pretendía determinar el conocimiento sobre la psicomotricidad y su relación con el aprendizaje y las dificultades de aprendizaje del niño, en la percepción de los maestros participantes. Por lo tanto, los resultados mostraron que existe una comprensión sobre el concepto de psicomotor, pero hay una brecha en la comprensión sobre la relación entre el aprendizaje y la práctica psicomotora como una acción preventiva contra las dificultades de aprendizaje.A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo investigar a compreensão da psicomotricidade e sua importância para a aprendizagem da criança na percepção dos professores que atuam na Educação Infantil de uma instituição pública localizada em um município ao Norte do estado do Paraná. O instrumento utilizado para a coleta de dados foi um questionário com duas questões abertas, por meio do qual pretendeu-se averiguar os conhecimentos acerca da psicomotricidade e sua relação com a aprendizagem e as dificuldades de aprendizagem da criança, na percepção dos professores participantes.
